Dipsastraea corals are similar to Favia corals in terms of care, generally however the corralites are more obviously individual and separate.
Dipsastraea corals are an underrated LPS coral considering how beautiful they are, probably due to them being less commonly available. The deeply shaped polyps and puffy soft exterior are exceptionally pleasing to the eye, akin in many ways to Acans and the characteristics that make them so attractive to reef keepers.
Their growth starts with an encrusting base that builds upwards centrally as it grows, usually resulting in a symmetrical, dome shaped coral colony which is just as at home on a rock or on the sand bed.
Dipsastraea corals will do well in moderate flow and low to moderate light. Perfect for lower positions in the reef tank.
