Moon Jellyfish are really easy marine animals to keep and look after. They do have a few special requirements, mainly this relates to feeding and the habitat. Jellyfish are simple creatures and will sink if the water current does not keep them moving, therefore a kreisel tank is highly recommended, this type of tank moves the water in a circular motion keeping the Jellies moving and off the floor, Kreisel tanks have no corners (they're rounded) so there are no places for the Jellyfish to become trapped.

If Jellyfish sink to the floor due to a lack of current it causes them no problem other than they won't be able to feed properly, therefore, shipping them and cleaning them with pumps switched off or a dreaded powercut causes them no problems. Search our store for Kreisel tank examples.

Since Jellies are happy at a wide temperature range no heater is required.

Moon Jellyfish do not sting.

The lifespan of Moon Jellies is around 24 - 30 months.

Feeding Jellyfish is simple, as filter feeders you simply add suitably sized food to their aquarium and they will catch it with their tentacles and pass it to their stomachs. Being almost clear you can see when your Jellies are hungry and when they have food in them.

Foods you can use include live, frozen or preserved baby brine shrimp, cyclops, mysis, filter feeder coral foods and small soft pellets.

Water conditions: Temperature (room temperature) 13°C - 26°C. Salinity 1.019 - 1.022. pH 7.9 to 8.3. Alkalinity  7 - 9 dKH. Ammonia 0 ppm. Nitrite 0 ppm. Nitrate under 10 ppm. Phosphate under 0.04 ppm. Calcium 380 - 450 ppm. Magnesium1200 - 1400 ppm
